United Progressives for Victory is a group of Americans who believe that the reelection of George Bush in 2004 would be a disaster for Americans at home and abroad. We represent a spectrum of progressive constituencies in the United States, and we know the power of our vote.
We are progressives concerned that Ralph Nader’s candidacy
has the potential to undo his legacy and help re-elect
George Bush by dividing the progressive vote. We believe
that a united progressive vote for Kerry will empower
the progressive agenda and allow us to hold a Kerry administration
accountable to progressive interests.
Many of us have worked closely with Ralph Nader in
the past. We represent concerns for the environment,
women and people of color, consumer advocates,
workers, civil liberties, international security
and global engagement. In many ways, our work on
this project is a testament to the contribution
Ralph Nader has made in inspiring and training
so many activists and organizers over the years.
This effort is aimed at promoting everything that
Ralph Nader has said he has stood for during the
past forty years. The best way to support Nader’s
agenda this year is to oppose his candidacy for
President.
Our mobilizing effort is designed to convince likely
Nader supporters that the dangers of a second Bush
administration are too great for any of us to cast
a throwaway protest vote in 2004. The destruction
and long-term damage to progressive causes Bush has
wreaked over the last three years is, simply, shocking.
For the sake of the country and the world, we need
to unite now to keep Bush from winning another four
years in the White House -- four years which would
further separate us from allies, encourage new enemies,
and undermine our ability to build a safe and better
world.
UP for Victory is serving as a nationally coordinated
network, sharing technical assistance, information,
and other resources among coalitions of progressives
in targeted states.
Progressives across America need to unite in common purpose
to defeat Bush. Join us and help protect the progressive
agenda. |
